IC 8th Grade Projects

Alexander E-Audio Book Project
After students read Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day by Judith Viorst, they wrote their own version of the story.Using PowerPoint, they created an electronic-audio book where they included a title page, keyed in their storyline, illustrated each page, and added a voice over narration with special sound effects. They published their spiral-bound book as well as burned a CD and created a CD label. SKYPE was then utilized between classrooms for students to conduct a book review and project reflection with their classmatesProject_Thank_you_card.jpgAlexander_Audiobook_Project.jpg

Periodic Element Project
Individually, students created a periodic element of themselves. Each component of a periodic element was represented with the students personal information including: Initials represented the element symbol, birthdate represented the atomic number, and height in centimeters represented the atomic mass. Each student imported their picture using shapes and borders. Students were then grouped together to determine three common characteristics.

Each student was responsible for one page which included three articles about a natural disaster of their choice. The articles were written to provide information about such a disaster, a personal "survivor" perspective, and research-based account and expert opinion. Students also included an image with caption, a quotation box, and MLA formated works cited section.
